Keep showing up.
Keep each other accountable and turn up, even when the motivation doesn't. Every start line counts.
Not a running club. Two mates keeping each other accountable.
A couple of guys in Brisbane, getting fitter one Saturday at a time. We turn up for the 5K, but the post-parkrun brekkie, always with bacon, is what gets us to the finish line.
5K FIRST. BACON BREKKIE NEXT.It started with one Saturday. Then another. And somehow, we became Saturday morning people. Our story · Since 2026
How it all began
At the first parkrun of 2026, we decided it was time to do something good for ourselves. Nothing fancy. No perfect training plan. Just turn up, move our feet and see where it takes us.
We kept coming back. Week after week, we've made parkrun part of our lives, taking the occasional break when holidays, work or illness get in the way. The goal has never been perfection. It's about consistency, progress and enjoying the journey.
The secret weapon? Brekkie after parkrun. Every Saturday we head for breakfast, catch up and talk about how the run went. There is always bacon. On the tough kilometres, knowing what is waiting at the end is sometimes all the motivation we need.
The mission
We're not chasing medals or trying to impress anyone. We're chasing a healthier version of ourselves, one 5K at a time.
Keep each other accountable and turn up, even when the motivation doesn't. Every start line counts.
Improve our fitness, go further with less effort, and celebrate every personal best.
Good company, a proper post-parkrun catch-up and breakfast with bacon. Every week. That finish-line reward makes the early start worth it.
The Saturday ritual
Some weeks we feel fast. Some weeks we're just happy to make it around. Both count.
Arguably the hardest part of the entire 5K.
Run, jog or walk. Keep the streak of showing up alive.
Whether it was a personal best or a tough 5K, we made it. Now for the real motivation.
Grab a table, order breakfast and have a laugh about the morning. Bacon is the non-negotiable part of our Saturday ritual.
The finish-line motivation
Some Saturdays the legs are willing. Other Saturdays, it is the thought of bacon and a good brekkie that gets us through. Either way, we finish together and enjoy breakfast afterwards.
